The following is part of my 2006-2007 blog to book project that ultimately became Making Mediation Your Day Job.
It’s a blog! It’s a book! No, it’s a…blook!
I’m writing a book. Yep. Indeed. And I’ll be using this blog to do it. So I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
Starting tomorrow, Making Mediation Your Day Job™ will unfold right here before your very eyes. I’ll be using this blog to write the entire book. When I’m done, it will transform into a real, live, official, professional book.
Why am I using a blog to write my book? I’m not the first and so I’m grateful to the good thinking of those who came before me:
-
Because blogging is to writing an entire book as a bite is to eating a feast. It makes it mentally manageable.
-
Because blogging is a conversation. I hope you’ll join the conversation and give me feedback along the way.
-
Because making a public commitment gives my dream momentum. I’ll be less distracted when I know people are already watching.
-
Because I’m happy being on (or at least near) the leading edge of ways to use technology to do what I love to do. I love mediating, I love blogging, I love writing, and I’ve been outlining this book since last fall. What better way to bring the strands together?
-
Because I figure you shouldn’t have to wait for the book to get going with the strategies I’ll be writing about.
While they won’t be presented sequentially (because that’s not how books get written) all posts will be organized according to the chapter in which they’ll land eventually.
And I really, really do hope you’ll lift me up, set me straight, open my eyes and ears, and give me feedback during the coming journey. You are invited to do so anytime by leaving a comment (scroll down) or by submitting a contact form if you wish to keep your comments private.
I’ll blog about other things too, of course, especially when I need a brain break. Happy trails to you and me!
